Akbar received an achievement scholarship from PT. Djarum (Djarum Scholarship Plus) for his Bachelor of Laws. He was graduated from Tanjungpura University. He joined LBH Health Jakarta as Assistant Public Defender. At the same time Akbar was also an Assistant Lawyer and legal consultant at Image Law Firm, Jakarta. Previously served as Legal Manager of PT Pinang Sejati Group, a reputable mining company.
In 2010 Akbar started the Akbar Hidayatullah Law office, then in 2015 it changed its name to AHLO | Advocates & Legal Consultants, Akbar is expertise in litigation and as a legal practitioner which specifically expertise in the field of litigation and non-litigation business, corporate and bankruptcy law, prioritizing Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), Out of Court Settlement as a method of an effective & efficient resolution .
In 2015 Akbar founded Indonesia Justice Watch (IJW), IJW is an NGO (Non-Governmental Organization) which operates in the field of public advocacy and anti-criminalism.
